This dress is OK! First - some comments on the photos. I have several scars on my back that I felt free to Photoshop out. I just don't want anyone to be disappointed when you meet me or see me wearing this around. Second, I realize now that I might want to wear a bra with this. I feel totally alright with the dress though. I used some quilter's cotton that I got for $3 at a rummage sale. You simply can't use this kind of fabric without the home-sewer-y look. I don't mind that in this case. The fit is perfect, if I do say so myself. I had to change the pattern in two places and I'm beginning to get a little faster at that part of the process. Summer Dress

I love the dress--no doubt about it. How do you resist making six of them in different colors and patterns? I find, as a knitter, when I make something from a new pattern I immediately buy supplies and make 4 or 5 more of the same thing. For me, "learning" a pattern is like learning language or memorizing a poem. I have to continue to practice to get all the "use" out of it I can. I'm not sure quite how to relate this, but I feel this also impacts on my compulsion to "clean my plate" and "finish the bottle." That last confession leads to this--if I were sewing and making multiples of pieces that worked, I would have a closet full of the emergency "bloat" pants. In flattering colors, of course.
Thanks Sharon!
Well it’s pretty easy to resist making six of them, because that would take a lot of time and energy. I do plan to make a few more though. This pattern came with several bodice variations, so the next step will be to try those out before I splurge on decent fabric. I know you warned me not to make outfits out of bedding or curtains, but I’m already imagining one version of it from a sheet and an old embroidered pillowcase.
Very cute! (and you DON'T need a bra, despite the brainwashing we received from mother ...)
