August Contest

Notice the picture of the hand-sewn felt kangaroo above. She is the prize for the August contest. Now, for the rules. The best guess for what the kangaroo is stuffed with wins.

additional rule: Once I have selected a winner you must email me an address for the shipment of your prize - unless I already know where you live. Artaroundo, I'm still wondering who you are and how I can get your tote bag to you.

I wonder if 'best guess' means the most inspired guess, or the guess that comes closest to the truth. And I wonder if the camel toe is meant to be a hint. What stuffing would create that subtle valley?

Hmmm, this is a toughie. O.k., I guess the felt kangaroo, ahem, hand-sewn felt kangaroo, is stuffed with packaging materials from the serger box.

What an eye for detail you have!

That is truly the best guess I can imagine, so I'll stop the contest here and declare a winner.

By the way - the kangaroo was actually stuffed with stuffing.

I guess since the contest is over...I'm gonna say what I was going to guess anyway. I was going to guess that it was stuffed with lots and lots of cotton balls!!! You know the ones you used to wipe off nail polish and what not...

When I was alot younger, in about 3rd grade, I made myself a very simple rectangular pillow using two pieces of fabric and a needle and thread...obviously. I labored over this pillow, and when I was ready to turn the pillow inside out to stuff it with something....the only thing I had in my house to used was....cotton balls!!! And so, with out asking my father, I stole all of our cotton balls and quickly dispensed it in my pillow.

Anyway, I think it's great that you have a blog displaying all of your creations. I myself am preparing to make a blog filled with my creations also! Recently I've been getting into fashion. I've always been into sewing stuffed animals and what not, so I hope this blog I will make will prove to be a great motivater of my creative happenings! Well, I'll leave you at that. Sorry this was such a long comment, but I'm just so eager to share my ideas and creations. I hope you'll visit my blog once I start it! I'll be visiting your blog in the future. Until then.

Hi Paige,

I remember stuffing a few animals with cotton balls as well. We also used old nylons. Both options create a hard and lumpy form.
