Tote Bags

I spent part of last week's sewing time making a new batch of tote bags. I already have a closet over-flowing with them, but I needed to make room in my fabric box so I made eight new bags. I also thought it would help my morale to complete a project that I wouldn't mess up. I'm feeling totally overwhelmed by sewing right now. Everything I make has at least one serious flaw. So here I am, gathering some goods at my favorite stores. I feel so big in some stores and so little in others.

This is the thing that makes my tote bags better than anyone else's - I make half of them with shoulder length straps and half with short straps, so that when my arm is fully extended they are still above the ground. This way I can carry four totes at a time. The weight is equally distributed (as long as I re-pack the groceries when I get out of the store) and I probably won't trip up the stairs when I'm hauling them up to the third floor.

Those bags are brilliant.

But I would just use them for my long arm/short arm.

Excellent.

You repack your own groceries? As a professional grocer, I am disappointed that my colleagues have not executed their job properly.

Nora,

Not only do I re-pack the groceries, but I very carefully put everything onto the conveyor belt in compatible groups in order to prevent produce damage. It's never enough! I'm going to work on a tote bag that's lined with bubble wrap. I know YOU would never put my 1.5 liter vodka bottle on top of the 2 yellow and three green bananas I have so carefully selected.
